• April 27, 2017 – First United Methodist Church, 590 NE McAlister Rd., Burleson, TX @ 7:30 pm
“Elijah” Presented by
Brazos Chamber Orchestra and Brazos Chorus
The Brazos Chamber Orchestra and the Brazos Chorus, under the Direction of Maestro David Anavitarte, is pleased to present selections from Mendelssohn’s monumental oratorio “ELIJAH” in Granbury, Cleburne, and Burleson, Texas.
Considered to be one of the greatest of all oratorios because of its sheer power and emotion, Mendelssohn’s grand and mighty composition is an epic retelling of the Old Testament’s stalwart prophet Elijah in a fast-moving story of faith, fearlessness, fight and flight.
The Brazos Chamber Orchestra and the Brazos Chorus will present this fiery and dramatic choral tour de force.
Baritone Dr. David Robinson takes center stage in the pivotal title role of the zealot prophet, while Maestro David Anavitarte, Conductor, marshals the full force of the chorus and orchestra to transport spirits as high as Elijah’s heaven-bound chariot of fire.
Dr. Brian Wasson sings the role of the righteous Obadiah, the wicked King Ahab’s ‘minister of state.’
Sherry White will sing the beautiful soprano pieces.
Lorri Dyess and Dulce Mendoza sing duet roles.
