One of My favorite Scalia dissents

I’ve got many as I always enjoyed reading his dissents regarding various legal situations that have risen up in our Country. I picked just one to honor this staunch Constitutionalist . My favorite quote from his dissent pertaining to the same sex marriage ruling which I shared at Church this morning. Oh dear, have I ventured into the netherworld of the separation of Church and State? Forgive me, I’m only the drummer!

In the case of Obergefell v. Hodges:  Scalia wrote “I write separately to call attention to this Court’s threat to American democracy.” “This is a naked judicial claim to legislative—indeed, super-legislative—power; a claim fundamentally at odds with our system of government. Except as limited by a constitutional prohibition agreed to by the People, the States are free to adopt whatever laws they like, even those that offend the esteemed Justices’ ‘reasoned judgment.’ A system of government that makes the People subordinate to a committee of nine unelected lawyers does not deserve to be called a democracy.”

Whether you agree or disagree with Scalia, he was never afraid to take a stand on what he believed. We have become a bunch of wishy washy compromising folks and like my Grandma always said…when you straddle the barbed wire fence, you will get your britches tore.

With the passing of Justice Antonin Scalia America is at another “crossroads” and I pray that Godly men will take a stand and make Godly decisions. May I remind those that care of 2 Chronicles 7:14. This is right now a most critical time for our Country.  As Joshua stated it is time to decide who you will side with. Truth as God’s Word states or what you think truth is or, even scarier…what you want it to be.  As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Please read Psalm chapter 2 and then the end of the book, just in case you wondered how it will turn out. Ah yes, now presented with what I call “the Power of Choice”.

Thank you Judge Scalia for your unwavering stand of what the Constitution stands for.supreme court scalia fender bender-362819470_v2.grid-4x2
