Donations $25 and above will be amplified by $2 million in bonus funds and prizes. In just five years, North Texas Giving Day has pumped more than $60 million into the North Texas community. Count me in just this once
I’ve been seeing all these posts with old pics from years gone by so though I’d put one out too! I don’t usually like to be accused of conforming so this will be the one and only.
Actually came across this picture of Cara and I in one of our favorite places…any rocking chair that was even close to the proximity we were in! When she didn’t feel good in her early years, which was quite often, we would hang out in a rocking chair and if I had my harmonica I’d play and seemed to help. Rather be playing drums but I guess the harmonica was a little more soothing!
One time this person said oh dear, you should not have all those pictures of Cara all around you as they only will cause you pain and grief by reminding you she is gone. What an idiot! When someone is in your heart forever all the pictures there or not there will not change that. And this should not be a surprise but that just reminded me of a Scripture…Hebrews 8:10 FOR THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR MINDS, AND I WILL WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS. AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.

Look up, it’s Skyscraper Day
Now here’s a day this retired Ironworker can like! Working on high rise buildings does give you a different perspective on the world below.
The construction of tall buildings has become so commonplace in cities around the globe that the general public gives little thought to the visionaries responsible for creating a city’s unique skyline. Skyscraper day provides the opportunity to learn more about the architects who commit a dream to paper and the construction crews that make it reality.
Whoever it was that first considered placing dwellings on top of each other instead of side-by-side would be astounded at how modern buildings literally seem to touch the sky. What they may also find interesting is the status that is often attached to living or working at the highest level. These are just a few aspects to ponder on a day that is set aside to reflect on man’s apparent conquest of upper space.
Think your in shape? Climb columns all day long with about 30 lbs. of tools and 2 bolt bags full of bolts! -

One of those ye ha days!
Today is trail mix day & celebrate pony express day. The Pony Express existed for 18 months between the days of April 3, 1860 to October 1861. The rider changed out every 75 to 100 miles, but the mail never so much as slowed even in the worst of weather. While the average trip from coast to coast (On Horseback!) took 10 days, when they delivered Lincoln’s Inaugural Address, the trip was made in a mere 7 days and 17 hours. Buffalo Bill Cody was a rider at age 15 for a awhile as was Wild Bill Hickok.
As I was typing these in I realized the common core of the two…Pony express trail and trail mix!

Four Ways Government Can Spur Home Sales
COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (Real Estate Center) – There are four steps the U.S. government can take to encourage more home buying, says Dr. Mark Dotzour, chief economist for the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University.
- “First, the regulatory body writing the Dodd-Frank rules can hurry up and complete their task,” says Dotzour. “They are way overdue. The uncertainty this creates causes lenders to be risk averse, especially toward mortgage borrowers.”
- Another step is for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to make home loans to buyers with less available cash. That will open up the housing market to many people who do not have a 20 percent down payment.
- “Third, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency can relax its tough guidelines that discourage banks from making loans for new subdivision developments,” says Dotzour. “The lack of new building sites makes lots and new homes more expensive. In several good markets, the lot shortage is acute.”
- Finally, there’s a serious labor shortage in many parts of the new home construction industry, says Dotzour. The government can help by enhancing the guest worker program to provide much-needed craftsmen, such as carpenters.
