Music and the Internet
Received a message from our excellent guitar player at Church, Mr. John Hancock, that we are doing for a special song this morning Revelation Song. He sent me a link to hear it sung by Kari Jobe. I like the link and even though I'm familiar with the song I picked up some ideas from her drummer. But what I enjoy about the Internet and especially you tube is tapping into how other drummers play it just by typing in "drums to Revelation Song". So now for this morning I have about 3 sheets of drum music I've done from 4 different drummers I listened to!Okay, here is how this works, I will borrow a little out of each, the key word there being borrow! With the opportunity to listen to other accomplished percussionists it gives me some ideas I might not have thought of.By the way, because I'm a fan I've already seen how I can add a little Stuart Copeland into the mix as well. I see a Steve Young drum video on the horizon! Thanks to my excellent drum teacher Logan Swords, owner of Swords Music, Ft Worth's oldest operational music store now in his 43rd year, who taught me to play the drums to many, many kinds of music!Hope you have a blessed Sunday.Steve Young -

Just saw where Gary Carter passed away at age 57. Man did I love watching this guy play baseball. He always played with an enthusiasm for the game that made you want to watch and that huge smile of his was contagious!I miss players like that!Steve Young

Standing firm
I've noticed one of the hardest things to do in life, for me anyway, is to not answer back and retaliate when your being accused of things and when other's judge you on what they have heard. I learned from my Mom and Grandma that Truth ALWAYS will prevail and to keep your mouth shut. Easier said than done because it usually doesn't look that way!But, looking back all these somewhat many years, they were right. Actually their teaching is completely Scripture based and presents itself as a natural law. Some call it what goes around comes around. The Word says in several places that there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed and nothing covered that will not be uncovered. Galatians 6:7 says Do not be deceived, God is not mocked ; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.Another Truth I've learned that, maybe your not at fault or didn't do the things your accused of but, ain't nobody perfect, and that includes me, so that's a pretty good place to start, with myself. James 5:9 says Do not complain, brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged ;behold, the Judge is standing right at the door. And in 2 Cor. 13:5 Paul admonishes us to "test & examine" ourselves, or, what fruits is my life producing!Now, when these Truths are applied and you begin to see the faults in yourself, it becomes very easy to forgive, keep your mouth shut and pray for mercy, for yourself and for others! Let me see here, Ah yes, remove the large piece of wood from my own eye, THEN I can help my fellow man remove the splinter from his eye.Foundational, simple teaching that, again, not easy to do but when we rely on Jesus, the Living Word and His Mercies & Loving kindness, we see great changes, first in ourselves and then in those we forgive and pray for. Wait a minute, I thought this had to do with others accusations and not me? Nope, it all starts with me and the power of the choice I make in how I will deal with any and all situations in life!Steve Young

An opportunity to learn and give!
I went on Facebook yesterday to check on one of my blogs I had sent out regarding private property rights and noticed a cystic fibrosis logo that caught my eye. It was a post from a young lady I went through school with and it was about her sister in law that worked at Children's Medical in Dallas as a respiratory therapist for the CF kids. Her niece just passed away from CF and another niece is battling the disease in the hospital now. Another family member had also died from CF and they have a family member that, being an artist and losing several members to CF has been drawing logos, etc. to bring awareness to the disease. Small world isn't it!If anyone does not know about CF or would like to know more, you can click on this link to the cystic fibrosis foundation. Great info and if you have it in your heart, go ahead, click this link and make a donation, $5, $10 or any amount will be appreciated.I typically don't send things about CF even though Cara, my daughter died from this in 2008. Usually my blogs are regarding Cook Children's Hospital and doing promotional things for them.
