Sonny Burgess & Jolie Holliday will be Performing at The Oct 7th Garden Party!
Sonny Burgess is a true Traditional Country Music Artist. He is a CMA Artist Winner and Texas Country Music Hall of Famer. He has played the Grand Old Opry on several occasions and walked the Red Carpet at the American Country Music Awards. In addition, he has played three times for former President George W. Bush during his campaign trail. Just a few of his hit singles include “Cowboy Cool,” “The More I’m Around Some People (The More I Like My Dog,” and most recent “Dang Good Thing” from his latest release.
When not touring, Burgess finds inspiration in working with children at Fort Worth’s Cook Children’s Hospital. He spends his time there as full-time director of clinical programming helping them to record music and audio for their families in Cook’s ChildLife Zone. “We teach ‘em guitar and [how to] write songs. Some of these doctors are sharing [that] these kids are actually taking less pain medication when they’re doing music,” Burgess said. “Unfortunately, if they do pass, we have something for the family, some closure hopefully for them, something for them to go back to. It’s amazing what music does.”
From the twinkle in his eye to the firm handshake, it is easy to see that Sonny Burgess is a true traditional country artist with a heart as big as his home state of Texas.
Sonny Burgess was recently honored with the Humanitarian Award from the Texas Regional Radio & Music Association. This video was shown in the awards presentation and shows a few of the things that Sonny does in his work with the folks at Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, TX. –Click on the link to view this wonderful video and make a difference!
We will be doing a live auction with Sonny as the prize! The winner will get to have Sonny come out and do a “patio party” for up to 20 guests at the winners home! I’ve attended two of these and let me tell you, it is a blast and the folks that one the bid was so glad they did. So were their gusts that attended!!
Now, a little bit about the much better…and prettier side of this musical family, Jolie Holliday. Since her debut, Jolie has opened for such great artists as Thompson Square, Pat Green, Neal McCoy, Lee Ann Womack, Collin Raye, Randy Travis, Stoney LaRue, Sonny Burgess and Marty Stuart to name a few. She performed at the 2011 Official Super Bowl Pre-Game in Dallas, TX, the 2009 & 2010 CMA Music Fest, and the half-time show at the 2009 Thanksgiving Dallas Cowboy game.
Jolie was truly honored when asked by Chris Kyle’s family to sing “Soldier”, another song from her new CD “Somebody Who Can”, at his memorial service in February 2013 at Cowboy Stadium. Jolie’s new CD is dedicated to Chris Kyle and all Armed Forces for their services. This was important for us to point this out as we have the autographed shotgun in the live auction, and one of those that signed was Taya Kyle, wife of Chris Kyle.
