Plans to redevelop former east Fort Worth golf course head to zoning commission
Plans to redevelop a large site in east Fort Worth’s Woodhaven community could take a step forward this week as city commissioners consider a rezoning proposal.
The owners of the 150-acre site that once included the Woodhaven Golf Course have requested a rezoning that includes a mix of residential, commercial and open areas.
“The applicant has proposed a development plan that includes a mix of low-density and high-density residential areas, as well as commercial uses,” according to the Jan. 8 zoning commission agenda. “This approach aims to create a mixed-use community that caters to various housing and business needs, various mixed-use, urban residential, large lot residential homes and portions.”

The owners, Crescendo Development, have held several meetings with neighborhood groups in developing the plan, according to documents filed with the city.
A conceptual plan filed with the project shows the possible inclusion of a nine-hole golf course in the area. The former Woodhaven Country Club closed several years ago.
Crescendo Development, a real estate development firm headed by Will Northern, acquired the property for $8.5 million in a May 2024 foreclosure auction. Woodhaven has been at the center of revitalization efforts over the past year, with the city hiring a consultant to conduct public meetings and develop a neighborhood conservation strategy. The area, near the intersection of Interstates 30 and 820, is home to 22 apartment complexes, but the neighborhood has yet to see desired business development, including the addition of retail shops and restaurants, despite population growth in the area, according to previous Fort Worth Report coverage.
The meeting is set for 1 p.m. Jan. 8 at old city hall at 200 Texas St. Fort Worth City Council is expected to vote on the case at its Jan. 14 meeting.
